Lactic acid bacterium Lactobacillus plantarum TENSIA® (DSM 21380)
Lactobacillus plantarum TENSIA® is a lactobacillus of human origin (isolated from a healthy Estonian child), whose safety has been tested in test tubes, laboratory animals and healthy volunteers. TENSIA® has been discovered and clinically studied by researchers at BioCC OÜ in cooperation with researchers at the University of Tartu. Lactobacillus plantarum TENSIA® has been deposited in the international microbial collection Deutsche Sammlung von Mikroorganismen und Zellkulturen GmbH under the number DSM 21380 on 16.04.2008. Lactobacillus plantarum TENSIA® belongs to BioCC OÜ and TENSIA® is a trademark of BioCC.
Properties and effects of Lactobacillus plantarum TENSIA®
L. plantarum The various properties of TENSIA® have been repeatedly studied both in the test tube (in vitro) and in animal and human experiments (in vivo).
Functional properties of L.plantarum TENSIA®:
- supplies the organism with Lactobacillus plantarum with the TENSIA® strain, which increases the body's natural resistance to several bacteria that cause intestinal infections;
- increases the total number of beneficial lactobacilli in the intestine, which ensure the breakdown of nutrients into more easily absorbed compounds;
- Produces compounds that lower blood pressure (behave similarly to NO and ACE inhibitors);
- Strengthens the body's natural defenses;
- Protects the body from excessive oxidative stress;
L. plantarum TENSIA® has been granted an Estonian patent (EE05340), a European patent (EP2309870, which has entered into force in the following countries: CY/CZ/LT/LV/PL/SE/DE/FI/GB/HU) and a Russian (RU2477750) patent: “Isolated microorganism strain Lactobacillus plantarum TENSIA® DSM 21380 as an antimicrobial and blood pressure-lowering probiotic, a foodstuff and composition containing it, and the use of a microorganism for the preparation of a blood pressure-lowering drug and a method for suppressing the action of non-starter lactobacilli in a foodstuff".
